College Fair

Every semester, to allow students to get to know more about their dream university, ZWA's university advising department organize the "College Fair" activity. Admissions officers or university representatives from prestigious universities are invited to ZWA to meet with students and provide information on all aspects of the university, which not only gives students confidence, but also helps students navigate the path to the university, letting them know that the future college life is only one step away. 

By November, ZWA's university advising department had organized three face-to-face online lectures given by college admissions officers, from the National University of Singapore (ranked first in Asia), the University of Warwick (ranked sixth in the UK), Queen Mary University of London (the largest campus in London), the University of East Anglia (ranked 10th in the UK in scientific research strength), Michigan State University (known as the engine of scientific research in the US), and the New York Film Academy (ranked first in practice).

Because of the pandemic, admissions officers were unable to visit the ZWA campus and introduce their university to our students in person. Although presentations were delivered online, our students remained highly enthusiastic. Each admissions officer introduced their university from different perspectives, from the campus environment to the strong majors and to the job opportunities after graduation.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day, a western traditional holiday, is an original holiday of the American people, and also the American family reunion holiday. Apart from the United States and Canada, other countries like Egypt and Greece also have their own unique Thanksgiving. Some scholars have also proposed the establishment of a "Chinese Thanksgiving Day" to promote traditional culture.

A planned Thanksgiving Turkey dinner was canceled because of the pandemic. However, the members of the Student Council organized a different thanksgiving activity for all students and teachers. Students were called on to make a special Thanksgiving video. In an online activity, everyone expressed their gratitude to those they wanted to thank. 

Assemblies & Events

ZWA holds a student assembly once a month in the new school year.

• Comments on students’ performance.

• Arrangements for student union or clubs this month.

• Notification of major events.

• Student birthday party.

What else can I do during the epidemic?

In November, due to the impact of the epidemic, our student assembly had to be hosted online. The activities were also carried out according to the schedule, including comments on students' performance, arrangements for the student union and clubs, campus events, birthday parties and so on. The students all expressed that they are looking forward to going back to school, and we believe that day will come soon.

To reduce the impact of online teaching on students' mental health, teacher Sophia collected some problems that some students encountered in the online lessons at home and gave an online psychology lecture to the students at the assembly.

In order to better promote the implementation of quality education, build a harmonious campus, enrich the cultural life on campus, enhance art atmosphere, provide a platform for photography enthusiasts to show  self-value, promote the communication of photography enthusiasts, showcase the profile of students in new era, the Student Union held a photography contest. 

Academic Growth

At the beginning of November, the Social Science teachers organized a "National History Day" competition. The competition required all students to compete in groups, make full use of the information they had reviewed, and show their ideas to their peers. Through interdisciplinary integration, students learned to work in teams, and each student delivered an English presentation on the information they gathered.

GIA's academic evaluation and research activities for this semester have been completed successfully in November.

GIA highly acknowledges ZWA’s high quality education after conducting a series of evaluations, including interviews with principals, teachers, students and parents, inspections on course delivery, campus facilities etc.

1) ZWA provides students with an efficient curriculum;

2) ZWA provides teachers with sustainable professional development and curriculum evaluation to promote the continuous improvement of teachers;

3) Students feel happy from learning, because the management team and the faculty team of ZWA has been committed to providing students with high-quality education in line with GIA's key values of "dignity, honor, respect and integrity".

In November, we organized a fellowship with a school in Hawaii, USA to exchange and share the cultural differences between China and the United States and share their different ways of expressing gratitude for Thanksgiving and spring. At the end of the meeting, both sides looked forward to the next meeting.

In the future, we will continue to carry out similar fellowship activities. Although we cannot meet and communicate with each other offline due to the epidemic, we can also communicate online.

ZWA was successfully elected as a member of the first China Association of Private Schools high School branch this month.

The Syllabus of 14 AP subjects of ZWA obtained authorization letters from the College Board this month.

Duolingo became our partner for the English test this month. Students will be able to complete Duolingo registration and exams on campus and receive discounts.
