This year, as a new member school of Griggs China, Kunshan Global International IELTS Centre GIA Program （GIIC） has shown remarkable strength even though it is in its infancy. Australian National University, abbreviated as “ANU”, is a public research and comprehensive university founded in 1946 and located in Canberra, the capital city of Australia. It is the only university in Australia that was established by legislation of the Australian Federal Parliament and enjoys the status of a national university. As the premier academic temple in the Southern Hemisphere, ANU is a world leading university in academic research and faculty qualities.

ANU has the largest library collection in the southern hemisphere, the supercomputer Gadi, and the world-famous Siding Spring Observatory. Australia's four national academies of science - the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, the Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Australian Academy of Law - are all located here. The world's first clinical penicillin and photonic instantaneous transfer technology were also born here.

Faculty: As of 2021, ANU has 3,056 active faculty members, 90% of whom hold doctoral degrees, well above the average for all Australian universities (about 50%). One-third of Australia's academics teach or conduct research here.

Research Facilities: The largest library in the southern hemisphere, with a collection of over one million volumes, provides a wealth of resources for student and faculty learning and research.

The University of Queensland (UQ), founded in 1909, is a highly influential public research university.

World Ranking: Ranked 40th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, The University of Queensland is a member of Australia's “the Group of Eight (Go8) universities” and enjoys a high reputation worldwide.

Disciplinary Strengths: A wide range of disciplines, with strong strengths in life sciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, engineering, and agricultural sciences. For example, the university's agricultural sciences are ranked 11th in the U.S. News World University Rankings by Discipline for 2022-2023. Its biological sciences, biotechnology, food sciences, psychology, and pharmacy disciplines are also highly influential globally.

Research Achievements: The university has many advanced research facilities and institutes, such as the Institute of Molecular Bioscience, the Queensland Brain Institute, and the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. It has made remarkable scientific achievements in the invention of cervical cancer vaccine, the development of new coronary vaccine, and the development of high-performance superconducting MRI magnets.

Faculty: It has a highly qualified faculty, including many internationally recognized scholars and experts. By 2023, the university had 7,410 faculty members. The university emphasizes the training and development of its faculty, and provides them with an excellent teaching and research environment to ensure the continuous improvement of teaching quality and research standards.

The University of Birmingham, was founded in 1825 and is located in Birmingham, the second largest city in the United Kingdom. The University of Birmingham was granted a Royal Charter by Queen Victoria in 1900, and is one of the UK's “Red Brick Universities”, as well as a core member of the Ivy League “Russell Group of Universities”.

By the end of 2017, the University of Birmingham has produced 11 Nobel Prize winners, three British prime ministers and five heads of foreign governments. Famous alumni of the University of Birmingham include Li Siguang, the founder of geological science in China; Yao Tongbin, the founder of the two bombs and one star; Ke Jun, the founder of the discipline of metal physics and metallurgical history in China; Francis Aston, the Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry; Stanley Baldwin, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Peng Wensheng, the chief economist of the China International Capital Corporation (CICC); and Lucy Baldwin, the Managing Director and Head of Global Research of Citigroup.

Subject Strengths: A number of subjects excel in the Shanghai Softech Global Academic Subject Rankings, such as Business Management, which is ranked 7th globally, and five subjects in the top 50 globally, including Public Administration, Education, Business Management, Dentistry and Geography. The University of Birmingham has 10 scholars on the 2024 Clarivate list of the world's most highly cited scientists, demonstrating the impact of its research.

Campus Facilities: There are several museums and art venues, such as the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, which houses the works of masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet, and The Shakespeare Institute, which provides a wealth of resources for scholars and enthusiasts who study Shakespeare.

Faculty: They have a highly qualified faculty, including many internationally recognized scholars and experts. They have achieved outstanding research results in their respective fields and are actively involved in teaching to provide students with quality education and guidance.

Research Strength: It is one of the major research centers in the UK and carries out cutting-edge research in a wide range of fields. The university has numerous research institutes and centers in a wide range of fields, including energy, environment, health and materials. Its research results have a wide international impact and contribute to solving global problems.

As a new member of Griggs China, GIIC is just starting out on the journey of the Griggs program, but the good results of the current round of admissions have undoubtedly written a colorful opening chapter in the development of the school.
