Dear teachers, parents, and students, 

Good morning!

Today is my last day to serve as the Chairman of the Parent & School Association. I am honored to speak on behalf of all the parents of the graduates.

First of all, on behalf of the parents, I would like to thank the founding team, teachers and all service staff of SHBS.

I remember when I brought my son here three years ago, he was not confident about his academic performance, so I was rather worried about his future. While going for a walk with my kid, we often talked about how to get to a community college or the possibility of living dependent on us if he could not make it to any college. I found many other kids and their parents were in similar situations. Three years later, SHBS parents and kids are full of aspirations for their future. It is SHBS that has made this possible. It is the teachers' educational philosophy and their genuine and firm patience that have enabled kids to grow up freely, and have brought parents and kids today's surprises. I’d like to express my gratitude to teachers and all team members of SHBS for your super meaningful and valuable efforts. I wish all of you a prosperous career, a happy family and may all your wishes come true.

Secondly, I would like to send my congratulations to the parents of all graduates.

I remember 21 years ago when I had just got my graduate degree in the United States, my wife and I drove all around the United States, and we drove more than 17,000 kilometers. At the exit to almost every freeway, we could find booming Chinese restaurants, where hardworking overseas Chinese were thriving in foreign lands. We also visited many good schools across the US. What we envied was that there were so many good schools in the US with excellent teaching quality and advanced educational philosophy. What we worried about was that if we went back to China, it would be difficult for our son to enjoy such good education and services. Like everyone else, we were very lucky to know about SHBS through the recommendation of reliable friends. In Zhujiajiao, a treasure town with a long history, we happened to have found a school with global vision and international standards, which could provide high-quality international education for our kid. Eventually, as a returned parent from overseas, I don’t regret coming back to China then because we managed to let my kid receive high-quality international high school education. It is worthy of congratulations to other parents as well as to myself. 

Parents, we can proudly tell ourselves that we did our best to find the exact school that suited our kids most. The growth of our children over the past few years has proved that we made the right choice. We can pat ourselves and congratulate ourselves: " we happened to get it right. What a good luck!"

Finally, on behalf of the parents, I would like to wish the SHBS graduates of this year all the best! Dear students, when your parents and I were in high school, our country was still weak and poor. When we graduated from high school, we had no chance to study abroad at all. We knew almost nothing about the world, and we were confused about the future.

Over the past three decades, China has involved in the process of globalization, and today, amazingly, all of you are able to attend an overseas college, something that we parents would never have imagined when we were 18 years old. Now, you may go to different universities around the world to study, to fall in love with someone, to enjoy your youth, and to explore your endless possibilities!

Parents will continue to meet and form an association of SHBS graduates’ parents. Since you will leave home, parents will have more time getting together, eating and drinking, and thinking about how we can further help you, for example, how we can find a good boyfriend or girlfriend you can date with. We will keep contributing to the SHBS community and offering opportunities and resources for SHBS alumni and SHBS students.

Dear graduates, parents and teachers will remain here, and SHBS will remain here; We will be like the Yangshan Harbor of Shanghai. When you set up sails, we will light up the harbor to see you off, and when you return from overseas, we will light up the harbor again to welcome you home.
