2022-08-08From : 管理员Click : 533

Congratulations to our SHBS 2022 graduates!

"They used to say:forget about it, forget about it, no one else did it. We can’t just forget about it; we just can’t. We need to give our graduates the best commencement for their future journey ahead. “

"Graduation" ---lyrics by vice principal Jin, composed and sung by student Caelon, mixing by music teacher Will, and video-edited by art teacher Jang---preluded SHBS 2022 graduation ceremony. The song also reflects that it was not easy for the school to hold this offline graduation ceremony in the current Covid situation, which shows the school’s deep love and care for its graduates.

After several adjustments of dates, SHBS 2022 graduation ceremony was finally held in the school auditorium on the morning of July 31 in a combination of offline and online ways. Every graduate's smile, every parent's smile, and every teacher's smile, formed the most beautiful picture.

After the original song Graduation was a video presentation of best wishes from teachers and former graduates, including some surprises to the Class of 2022. The underclassmen also sent their best wishes to the graduates through a wonderful show, songs and musical instrument performances presented both on the spot and through a pre-recorded video.

The graduation ceremony officially began at 10 o 'clock.

In his opening remarks, foreign principal Christopher Moses reflected on the changes and growth of the graduates and congratulated them on their achievements. "As we gather both near and far, I realize even more the importance of institutions in shaping our lives and supporting our ambitions." "Yet the shared will of a collective endeavor in fact gives us the ability to discover who we are individually, just as our graduates have done at SHBS." "Institutions provide us a perspective greater than ourselves, and in this twenty-first century moment we need perspectives more than ever." "We need patience and fortitude and vision and compassion to navigate such vast perspectives."

Mr. Zheng Hongfang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hongrun Construction Group, said in his speech that he attended SHBS graduation ceremony every year. He was very pleased to see that one after another class of students had become mature and responsible after studying in SHBS. Mr. Zheng thanked all the teachers led by Principal Bowen Chen for treating the students as their own children, accompanying them with love, inspiring them with knowledge, and creating various opportunities to help them grow up fast. Mr. Zheng also reminded every graduate to thank their parents, who invested so much in bringing them up, and to contact their parents often when studying abroad.

Mr. Peng Gang expressed his excitement on behalf of the parents of the graduates. "When I brought my child to SHBS three years ago, my child was not confident about his academic performance and I was full of worries about his future," he said. "Three years later, my child and I are full of aspirations for the future. It is SHBS that made this possible. The growth of our children over the past few years has proved that we made the right choice." In the end, Mr. Peng called upon all parents to join forces and form a graduate parents association to continue contributing to SHBS, and to provide resources and opportunities for SHBS alumni and SHBS students.

On behalf of the underclassmen, Hanxiao from Grade 11 also sent the best wishes to the graduates and expressed the anticipation to hear more wonderful stories from the graduates in universities across the world to further inspire the underclassmen.

Subsequently, Mr. Zheng Hongfang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hongrun Construction Group, and Mr. Zheng Enhai, Vice president of Hongrun Construction Group awarded Hina Liang, our graduate of the highest distinction, with a scholarship of 50000 RMB.

On behalf of the graduates, Hina Liang recalled her growth in SHBS and expressed her aspirations for the future. “From the shyness when entering the dorm for the first time to the tacit cooperation in group work; from the nervousness when stepping on stage for the first time to the excitement of showing talent and the pride of winning glory; from flying to Dunhuang, India, Italy, and the United States to broaden the breadth of life, to listening to the experience of elites in various industries to explore the depth of life... the years in SHBS flew by so quickly, and all these stories had become a splendid chapter in our life.” Hina is full of confidence and aspirations for the future. She saw a brand new book opened, waiting for all the graduates to write even more splendid new chapters and create new glories.

The graduates also prepared a special gift for their alma mater--colorful benches placed on campus--hoping to enrich the campus with more bright colors. They presented their gifts to the school with a sign "Virtue carries SHBS forward." In addition, student Allen Cao also presented a special roll of Chinese calligraphy work to the school to express his gratitude. Each gift contains students' deep gratitude to the school. Principal Liu Liu and G12 homeroom teachers Biwen and Zona accepted the gifts on behalf of the school.

Then came the most solemn moment. The graduates walked on to the stage one by one to receive the diplomas presented by Principal Chris. Principal Bowen moved their tassel to the right side, signaling their official graduation. Both principals took photos with each of the graduates to record this milestone in their lives.

Then, Principal Bowen Chen made a concluding speech: your dedicated efforts to grow up make us truly feel that education makes people better. As he quotes the graduates,

"The most important thing is passion, because only passion can push us to persevere and brave all kinds of challenges."

"Life will find its way. Not all of us will succeed in the same way. Only by discovering ourselves and finding the right way for us will we find the key to moving forward step by step on the road to the future.

"For me, my community is like a big family, and I love doing what I can to make it better."

"I never miss any school activity that gives me fun. The club activities have inspired my leadership skills and improved my sense of responsibility."

“We are here not to be a certain type of people, but to be our best selves."

Finally, Principal Bowen gave all the graduates two words, "bravery" and "perseverance". He hoped that every graduate will become a better person through hard work and become a Chinese citizen that can blend into and illuminate the world.

After Principal Bowen’s speech, the hosts said: "Our graduates have received love and help from many people along the way. There are many people to thank, but the most important ones are their parents. At this special moment, I would like to invite all graduates to present their garlands to their parents and thank them for their unconditional love and support all along the way.”

As graduate representatives William and Hina summed up in their graduation poem, SHBS class of 2022 have written a magnificent chapter here on SHBS, and are ready to explore and create even more wonderful chapters in universities across the world.
