☆Caleb’s Self-introduction☆

I have been writing since a very young age, and my rigorous attitude towards literature is one of the most important reasons why I chose an international school. First of all, international schools value more a student’s interests and gives more support to students to develop their interests than public schools. In other words, I have more time to fully use my inspiration to create better works in an international school.

Of course, studying at an international school has broadened my horizon and has been a boon to my writing. What surprised me the most in ZWA was that it allowed me to deeply experience foreign culture and life, and understand the cultural foundation of different countries, which make my works closer to life.

I have always believed that creation cannot be separated from life, otherwise it will be like a crumbling building. From my personal point of view, the most indispensable thing in writing is a rigorous attitude. If you don’t understand a thing and describe it only with imagination, it is disrespectful to it, and it is also disrespectful to the work and the readers.

Before Mr. Lao She wrote "Camel Xiangzi", he once pulled the car for a living; Before Mr. Lu Yao wrote "Ordinary World", he once worked in a mine. It is precisely because the writers have the real experiences, could they write something authentic and touching. Writing is based on material from real life. If you are not particularly talented or do not have the experience yourself, only using the materials or the words of others, it is very difficult to make your writing connect to the readers. In order to write about carving, I signed up for a class to learn wood carving. There are so many similar cases, I will not list them all here, otherwise I might be too showy.

I've always thought that to write something really good, you must keep books as your companion. Apart from writing, reading the masterpieces of the writers is also my top priority. Standing on the shoulders of giants is always a faster way to learn things, comparing explore things on your own. I have no other hobbies, except reading, I am always thinking about the plot of the books I have read all the time. I spend most of my money on books as well. If I have an income of 2,000 yuan, I will not hesitate to spend 1,900 yuan to buy books. My dream is to open a private library and spend my time on books every day. As a book lover, I don't mind sharing my library with those who love books as well.

Let me end my introduction here. It’s time to talk about my works, though not many. It took me three years to finalize the outline and worldview of my new book, which I have not yet written a word, though the plot has been conceived. I just named the book when I wrote this article.

The title of the book is "Oolong" (I named it in a way that only “cultured” people can understand, which is a bit of my naughty play). The book is a hodgepodge, based on the hypothesis "The Great Rip of the Universe", and Greek mythology. It is written in the style of group portraits, including Chinese and Western elements, such as fantasy, Cthulhu, etc., with reference to myths and legends from all over the world. I am afraid that it is difficult to fully describe this book here, which took several years of preparation in the early stage, so let me keep it a mystery. There is a lot of energy in her small figure. If you don't know her, you will not have the idea that this little girl has profound knowledge in ancient book restoration and carving. Caleb is also good at long-distance running. To my biggest surprise, she is even a contract writer. I remember one thing very clearly. In November 2021, she suddenly came over and told me that she had obtained the certificate of a crop pest control instructor. In my eyes, Caleb has many interests and hobbies, and she is a no doubt a versatile and outstanding student, who works hard to improve herself.

In the course of her college planning, considering her dream of being a writer, Caleb wanted to study Chinese in college at the beginning. After doing an overall analysis, Caleb’s parents and I suggested that Social Study course is more suitable for her, which can not only consolidate her background, but also expand her knowledge in other areas, preparing her for the career of a future writer.

At present, Caleb has been accepted by many universities, and she will choose her dream college to continue her studies in the future.

In the blink of an eye, the graduation season is right at the corner. Looking back, I can't help but feel very proud of Caleb’s growth. Caleb now is a highly motivated student, good at making plans and always willing to help others. I believe she will be capable of completing her university studies and make her dream come true. I hope Caleb will keep being herself, and continue exploring herself.
